Dog-friendly hospital

Having your dog admitted into hospital at the vet can be a daunting prospect for both pet and owner. You can rest assured that we go to great lengths to keep our doggy patients relaxed and comfortable during their stay with us. Reducing stress for patients has a direct impact on healing and rehabilitation and is therefore extremely important to take into consideration.

We run a dog-friendly hospital, which means we aim to understand the experience of staying at the vet from the dog’s perspective.

How do we reduce stress for hospitalised dogs at Ready Vet?

  • If dogs are admitted to the hospital or are recovering from a procedure they are housed in our separate dog hospital and recovery room.
  • Our dog hospital’s Adaptil diffuser emits a calming pheromone that reduces anxiety.
  • Provisions have been made for comfortable beds in the hospital with extra padding for recumbent dogs needing a little more comfort.
  • We encourage owners to bring a familiar blanket or toy from home if this would provide comfort, which will be kept close to your dog for their stay.
  • Our nurses make an effort to spend regular one-on-one time with all dogs for the duration of their stay. Taking the time to offer affection, reassurance and attention to our patients forms part of all nursing care plans.

A vet your pet will trust

A trip to the vet doesn’t have to be scary for your pet. We help our patients and their owners feel relaxed and comfortable.
